The customer contacted us from Brno a wrote the following:

"Problems with engine starting. When the engine is cold the engine cannot keep at stable rpm. At first, the engine speed drops very low almost to the point of stalling. After that, the engine speed slowly increases and within about 10-15 seconds they stabilise at a normal value. This is followed by an occasional jerk or minor vibrations. The process when the engine speed is being stabilized is accompanied by strange noises.
The engine starts running normally after about 20-30 seconds. If the engine is warm the engine starting is relatively OK. I have also noticed that the accelerator pedal response has a delay and possible downshift occurs if the engine power is not available. I am not sure if it is related."

The FCD Logger was sent to him by post with instructions on what to do and how to do it, and for the first time ever, thanks to the Logger's features, we managed to record the entire cold start and its post-start cold engine behaviour on a customer's vehicle hundreds of kilometres away without seeing the customer or the car.

You can see how it turned out in the detailed report, which you can access by clicking on the published case below.
