The fuel supply was verified, the fuel strainer was cleaned, the fuel filter was replaced. The timing system was inspected and no problems found. Verified using the correct timing setup tools. Compression pressures OK - 32 bar. The camshaft was inspected to see if the cam lobes haven't rotated. No problem found. Even though no evident problem was found the CKP and CMP sensors were replaced with no change. Warm and repeated starts are OK. Once the engine is allowed to cool down for several hours it is hard to restart.

VOZIDLO JSEM NEOPRAVOVAL
After many testing sessions I discovered that the alternator is giving very high current during cranking. I purchased a new original Valeo voltage regulator. Since the replacement of the regulator the engine started without any problem. The customer told me afterwards, that the alternator charging system was repaired in the past and the installed regulator wasn't probably the correct type. Further the main alternator power cable is on the other side of the engine installed in the same wiring loom as the starters main power cable. The high current during cranking that is high as 130 A was causing interference of the engine ECU and as a result of this, the ECU was changing the preinjection values to a too high value.

Alternator starting current (7384/10)
The alternator is mysteriously not waiting for the engine to start and is generating maximum current with ignition ON and thus is restricting the starter. The cause was the regulator that wasn't the correct part for this alternator.

Recording description: The synchronisation should be OK as compared with other available recordings. The only point takt I can see is that the crankshaft rotation speed is dropping.

Recorded: During engine cranking
Recording description: I am not completely confident with the injection point in relation to the cylinder compression. It is very difficulot to measure the injection point exactly but I think that fuel injection is occuring around 20 degrees before TDC.

Recorded: During engine cranking
Recording description: We can see that there seems to be sufficient pressure for starting a small pressure drop when the injectors open. Nevertheless I am not sure if we can determine if the injectors are giving the correct quantity.
